There are an abundance of social movements that call themselves ministries. It seems as if to have a ministry, one only needs "a good cause". Ministry is much more than just an effort toward a good cause. Before we can expect people and the church to serve and support ministry we must understand what "it" is.
As the body of Christ we are called to minister both to one another within the body (discipleship) and to those who are outside the body of Christ (evangelism). Ministry is our effort in serving people to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ. We want to serve people in such a way that Christ Himself is served. We want to engage the body of Christ in serving and ministry focus. There are various ways that people can engage their community and their congregation in terms of ministry. We want the church to be your resource for establishing your ability to minister to the community.
